What to expect from our hassocks power washing service
Sitting right under the Downs, Hassocks is one of our busiest villages and ten minutes from our base. We're regularly cleaning driveways and patios along Keymer Road and Dale Avenue, on the estates off Ockley Lane and Stonepound Road, and out towards Ditchling, Clayton and Westmeston where gardens back straight onto open downland.
That setting is why so much of our work here is repeat work. Chalk dust off the Downs, hard water, damp shaded frontages under mature trees and the constant run of leaf litter from the lanes all dull paving, stone and glass faster than most people expect.
Every job is measured and priced on site, free of charge, no obligation. We'd rather spend twenty minutes looking at your driveway, patio or roofline and give you an honest number than guess one over the phone.
What ends up on the job sheet
We cover the complete exterior of a property, which is why most Hassocks jobs end up as a package. A block paving driveway cleaned, re-sanded and treated is the most requested single item. A driveway and patio together, or a roofline visit covering gutters, fascias, soffits and windows in one go while the access is already set up, is the most popular combination.
- Driveway jet washing — block paving, concrete, imprinted concrete and tarmac
- Patio, path and terrace cleaning, including sandstone, flint and porcelain
- Timber and composite decking cleaning
- Roof moss removal by hand scrape, followed by biocide treatment
- Gutter clearing, leak repairs and full replacement
- Soffit and fascia cleaning, repair and uPVC refits
- Window cleaning with pure water, one-off or on a regular round
- Swimming pool shells and surrounds

Downland brings its own set of problems
Sitting right under the Downs gives Hassocks two problems at once. Chalk dust and hard water leave a pale bloom and scale on stone, slabs and glass, particularly on south-facing terraces and pool surrounds, while shaded northern frontages and tree-lined lanes stay damp — exactly where algae, moss and black spot lichen take hold.
One method doesn't fit the whole property. Scale and lime bloom respond to the right chemical treatment and a pure water rinse, not more pressure — pressure alone just etches the stone. Organic green growth needs a residual biocide plus joint clearance, so it doesn't reappear within weeks.
On glass, tap water is the enemy in a hard water area — it dries and spots almost immediately. Windows, frames and sills are finished with deionised water through a pole system, which is why Hassocks glass stays clear rather than streaked.
The wider patch under the Downs
Alongside Hassocks and Keymer we work regularly in Ditchling, Clayton, Westmeston, Streat, Hurstpierpoint, Burgess Hill, Wivelsfield and Plumpton, travelling further across Sussex and the South East for larger jobs. Because our work is clustered locally, a smaller job can usually be fitted in around a bigger booking nearby.
Shop frontages on Keymer Road, pub patios, school and village hall paving, care home surroundings and communal areas for local management companies all feature — normally scheduled early morning or around opening times so nobody's inconvenienced.
Whichever it is, the approach stays the same: arrive when we said, protect what's around the job, work tidily, sweep up properly and charge exactly what we quoted.
Booking a visit
Call us or send the enquiry form and we'll arrange a time to come and look. On the visit we measure up, identify the surfaces, and flag anything worth knowing — a sunken block, failed pointing, lichen, a weeping gutter joint — before sending a written price, normally the same day.
Most domestic jobs in Hassocks are a single day. Sealing block paving or oiling decking needs a dry surface, so that returns as a short second visit, which we'll tell you before you commit.
No obligation at any stage, and no pressure to add work you didn't ask about. If a surface genuinely doesn't need doing yet, we'll say so.
