Block paving cleaning in Uckfield
We recently travelled over to Uckfield to assist a homeowner whose block-paved driveway had begun to lose its original lustre after years of exposure to the Sussex weather. The customer was concerned about the heavy accumulation of moss and stubborn weeds that had taken root in the joints, along with a general build-up of grime that made the entrance to their property look tired and neglected. They wanted a solution that would not only restore the aesthetic appeal of the frontage but also provide long-term protection against the elements to prevent rapid regrowth.
Assessing the condition on arrival
Upon arrival, we assessed the condition of the blocks and identified several areas where lichen had begun to take hold. We started the process by carefully clearing the larger debris before setting up our professional-grade pressure washing equipment. With over twenty years of experience, we understand that every surface requires a nuanced touch. We used a flat surface cleaner to ensure an even finish without damaging the integrity of the pavers, adjusting the pressure to effectively lift the dirt while being mindful of the substrate beneath. For the more stubborn organic growth, we applied a professional-grade fungicidal wash to kill off any remaining spores, ensuring a deeper clean than water alone could achieve.
Re-sanding and sealing the driveway
Once the driveway was thoroughly rinsed and all the loosened mud and vegetation were cleared away, we allowed the area to dry completely. A crucial part of our process involves replenishing the kiln-dried sand in the joints, which provides essential structural stability to the blocks. We finished the project by applying a high-quality sealant. This creates a protective barrier that enhances the natural colours of the stone and makes future maintenance significantly easier by resisting oil stains and slowing down the return of weeds.
The finished result and aftercare advice
The final result was a bright, clean driveway that looked as good as the day it was first laid. To keep the area looking its best, we advised the customer to give the surface a light sweep occasionally to prevent organic matter from settling. If you have a driveway in Uckfield or the surrounding Sussex area that needs professional attention, we would be delighted to hear from you.
