We recently visited a home in Haywards Heath to take on a large timber decking area that had become a real safety concern. This allowed us to work at a consistent, controlled pressure that cleaned deep into the grooves of the boards without scouring the surface.

Protecting the surrounding garden

Once the main cleaning phase was complete, we carried out a thorough low-pressure rinse to remove all loose debris and chemical residue, making sure the nearby lawn and flower beds stayed protected throughout. We worked carefully around the edges of the deck and kept the area tidy as we went, clearing any displaced material before we finished.

The finished result

The difference was immediate. The cleaning revealed the original warm tones of the timber that had been hidden for some time, and by removing the biological growth we not only improved the look of the deck but also helped prevent rot from taking hold. The surface was left far safer to walk on, which was the main priority for the homeowner.

We advised the customer to keep the deck clear of fallen leaves and to consider applying a quality oil or protector once the wood had fully dried. Regular sweeping and an annual light wash should help stop the algae from returning so quickly. It was a straightforward job to complete in the RH16 area, and it made a real difference to the garden.
