A full external clean in Mid Sussex
We were recently called out to a property in Mid Sussex for a comprehensive top-to-bottom external clean that required our full range of expertise. The homeowners felt the entire exterior had lost its lustre, with the roof showing significant moss growth, the gutters overflowing with debris, and the driveway and patio areas looking dull and slippery under a layer of stubborn black spot and green algae. It was a perfect example of how the Sussex damp can take its toll on a building over time, and they wanted to restore the property in one single, coordinated visit.
Starting at the roofline
Our approach began at the highest point, safely clearing the gutters and downpipes before tackling the roof. We carefully scraped away the heavy moss by hand to protect the tiles, followed by a soft-wash chemical treatment designed to kill the remaining spores without the need for high-pressure water, which could damage the delicate surface. While the treatment worked, we turned our attention to the soffits and fascias, using our reach-and-wash system to lift away the grey grime and traffic film, instantly brightening the roofline.
Driveway and patio cleaning in Sussex
Moving down to ground level, we assessed the various stonework surfaces. For the driveway, we used our professional-grade jet washing equipment, carefully balancing the pressure to ensure a deep clean that removed years of ingrained dirt without compromising the integrity of the pointing or the stone itself. We applied a specialist fungicidal wash to the patio areas to ensure the black spot was completely eradicated, finishing with a thorough rinse of the entire site to leave every corner spotless.
The finished result
The difference was particularly noticeable once the surfaces had dried, with the natural colours of the stone shining through and the whole house looking refreshed and well-maintained. The cleaning removed the accumulated dirt and organic growth, leaving the exterior noticeably brighter and the paved areas safer underfoot.
Keeping it that way
To keep the property in this condition, we recommended a quick annual gutter check and a light preventative treatment for the stonework every two years to stop organic growth from taking hold again. If your own home or business in Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, or the wider Sussex area needs a professional refresh, we would be delighted to provide a free, no-obligation estimate.
