Clearing blocked gutters in Burgess Hill

We recently visited a home in Burgess Hill to address a set of gutters that had become heavily burdened with the debris of several seasons. The property owners in the RH15 area had noticed water spilling over the sides during heavy downpours, which is often the first sign that the drainage system is reaching its limit. Upon arrival, we found the guttering packed with a thick layer of moss, silt, and decaying leaves, alongside a few stubborn weeds that had taken root in the stagnant organic matter.

Removing the build-up by hand

This level of build-up not only causes overflows but can also put significant strain on the brackets holding the plastic piping to the fascia boards. Our team began by manually removing the bulk of the debris to ensure that the downpipes were completely clear and functional. We pride ourselves on a thorough approach, so we did not just clear the internal channels; we also took the time to inspect the seals and joints for any potential leaks.

Rinsing and checking the flow

Once the blockages were cleared, we used a low-pressure rinsing technique to flush the entire system. This allows us to verify that water is flowing freely to the soakaways without using excessive force that might damage older fittings. We then applied a gentle cleaning solution to the exterior of the gutters, soffits, and fascias to lift the grey streaks and traffic film that tend to accumulate over time, leaving the whole system looking bright and well-maintained.

A drainage system working properly again

The final result was a perfectly functioning drainage system that once again protects the brickwork from dampness. This job was really well done by our team, reflecting the high standards we have held for over twenty years. To keep everything in top condition, we recommend that Burgess Hill residents have their gutters inspected at least once a year, preferably after the final leaves have fallen in autumn.

Regular maintenance saves money

Regular maintenance is far more cost-effective than repairing the structural damage caused by water ingress. If you live in Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, or anywhere across Sussex and need help with your exterior cleaning, please get in touch with us for a chat.
