Block paving lost under weeds in Haywards Heath

We were recently called out to a residential property in Haywards Heath to help a homeowner whose driveway had become completely overtaken by nature. While the block paving was structurally sound, the entire surface was hidden under a thick layer of stubborn weeds, moss, and ingrained road grime that had built up over several seasons. The customer was concerned that the driveway was beginning to look neglected and wanted to restore the kerb appeal of their RH16 home before the winter months set in.

Starting with a weed treatment before pressure washing

Our team began the process by thoroughly assessing the area to determine the most effective approach. We started with a targeted weed killing treatment to ensure that we tackled the growth at the root rather than just removing the foliage. With over 20 years of experience serving Mid Sussex, we know that preparation is the most important part of any exterior cleaning project. Once the treatment had taken effect, we utilised our professional-grade pressure washing equipment, carefully adjusting the settings to ensure we removed every trace of dirt and lichen without compromising the integrity of the blocks or the sub-base.

Rinsing down and letting the surface dry

After the initial deep clean, we spent time rinsing the entire area to clear away the dislodged debris and ensure a perfectly clean finish. Once the surface had completely dried out, we returned to carry out the essential re-sanding process. We used high-quality kiln-dried sand, brushing it meticulously into the joints to stabilise the blocks and prevent future movement. This final step is vital for the longevity of the driveway and gives the paving that crisp, freshly installed look that makes such a difference to the front of a house.

A brighter, tidier entrance for the property

The transformation was fantastic, leaving the driveway looking bright, tidy, and well-maintained. To keep the surface in top condition, we recommend that homeowners keep an eye on any new organic growth and give the area a light sweep occasionally to prevent soil build-up in the joints.
